Now that it is summer time, you may find that certain aspects of your business have slowed down. Many people take this time to relax a bit and schedule a holiday or two. Because of this, you may find that it is an optimal time to use this down-period as the perfect opportunity to clean up your social media accounts.
Clean up connections – Over time, you may find that your business isn’t going in the direction you originally planned for it or you may just find that you aren’t interacting with the people you would like to. Because of these reasons, you may find it useful to clean up the connections you have on the various social media sites. Unsubscribe from those you no longer wish to see updates from, remove people who you haven’t connected to in a while, and remove those who don’t match up with your brand or target audience.
Update profile – Another way to clean up your social media account is to make sure your profile is fully up to date. Review the information that is currently listed and make edits as needed. For social media sites, such as LinkedIn, update your profile with your latest projects or career moves and remove anything that you no longer wish to have listed.
Update images – In addition to updating your profile, don’t forget to update your profile images as well. Check your profile image and see how long ago it was changed. You may discover that it is a few years old and is time for a change. For sites such as Facebook, you may also want to take a look at your cover image and the images for your tabs and consider updating those as well. Not only can it give your page a fresher look, but it can also be a great way to draw some additional attention to your page.
